7 must-read websites for the frugal housewife

It’s no laughing matter when your household income halves overnight, but for many families the choice to have one parent stay at home with the children as a housewife or househusband means just that. It can be a shock to the system, but it’s not impossible, and those who choose this route are usually of the opinion that an at-home parent is of more value to the family than pots of money.
There are some women (and men) out there who are so good at making a little go a long way that it’s well worth learning from them. And thanks to the internet and the advent of blogging, there’s plenty of educational material on the web for the would-be frugal housewife.
Here are some of the best:
Extremely Frugal - Extremely frugal tips, quotes, comments and advice from an extremely frugal person.
Verdant.net - Ideas and shared solutions for sustainable & low cost green living
The Dollar Stretcher - Living better for less
Frugal Hacks - does what it says on the tin
FrugalWiz - Frugal living blog
Frugal Village - Lots of frugal living ideas
Vegetarian Frugal Housewife - The blog of a vegetarian, herbalist, crafty eco-hippie chick
If you think I’ve left any good frugal living sites off the list, please add them in the comments.

This is a great site that I refer to often, however the religious rhetoric can be a little thick at times. Ignore it if you don’t like it and you’ve got a *great* home economy guide!

The articles and newsletters have good advice.
Shameless plug:
http://www.frugalfreebies.com
It’s not exactly full of tips and hints, but it’s 100% FREE samples and lots of other great stuff!
Hillbilly Housewife’s recipes are full of fat and starch. That said, she has great ideas for pantry cooking.
Thanks for mentioning Frugal Hacks in your very short list! May I add that it’s a great place to find other frugal blogs as well? The Frugal Blogroll has nearly 500 members now, and new ones every day.
You are 100% right… a stay at home parent is worth MUCH more than income and possessions. You can’t buy your children’s love and you shouldn’t let strangers raise your children (ie daycare.) There’s not many of us out there though, full time parenting is becoming a thing of the past. Shame really.
